Thoughtful Thursday The Heartwarming Story of Yankee Candle

Nothing sets the cozy tone for fall like lighting candles and snuggling under a soft blanket. Over the years, I’ve tried many candles, but one of my all-time favorites has always been Yankee Candle.

The story behind Yankee Candle is as heartwarming as the glow of its products. It all began in 1969 when 16-year-old Mike Kittredge wanted to give his mother a Christmas present but couldn’t afford to buy one. Resourcefully, he melted crayons to create a candle for her. A neighbor, charmed by his creation, convinced him to sell it to her. With the money from that sale, he bought wax, made two more candles—one for his mother and the other to sell—and from that humble beginning, Yankee Candle was born.

Today, Yankee Candle offers one of the widest selections of scented candles and home fragrance products in the market, and they stand as the largest specialty brand of premium scented candles in the United States.

Whenever I sit down to create in my studio, I love setting the mood by lighting a candle. Holiday scents are my go-to, especially since we don’t experience much of a seasonal change here in the South. A great fall scent instantly elevates the coziness and warmth of the studio while I paint.

Last year, I was obsessed with the Cozy Cabin Escape scent, but sadly, it has been retired. I needed a new candle so I headed to my local Yankee Candle store and was thrilled to discover Apple Pumpkin Pie. It’s different from last year’s scent, but just as comforting and delightful.

While Yankee Candle are available in many retail stores, the best place to explore the full range of scents is their store. These candles also make fantastic gifts for any occasion. If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly recommend giving them a go!

Thanks so much for stopping by today—I hope you enjoyed the post!
