Sometimes the most fun artwork comes from simply experimenting and seeing what happens.

That’s exactly how this colorful geometric abstract came to be.

I started with a simple idea: mask off areas of the watercolor paper with tape, add watercolor, and see what happened. I didn’t have a specific design completely planned out—I just played with the placement of the tape and filled the shapes with bright, cheerful colors.

I then added pencil shading to some of the shapes, giving them a little extra depth and dimension.

When I removed the tape, I was pleasantly surprised by the result! The crisp white lines created a fun geometric pattern, while the watercolor gave each shape its own beautiful variation and character.

I love how something so simple—tape, watercolor, and a little pencil shading—turned into such a lively and colorful piece.

It was a great reminder that art doesn’t always have to be carefully planned. Sometimes you just need to experiment, let go of expectations, and see where the process takes you.

And sometimes, you end up with a very happy surprise. 💖
