Anticipating Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

As a kid, I enjoyed watching the original Mission: Impossible TV series. It was filled with action and intrigue—the kind of edge-of-your-seat drama that kept you guessing. The original show aired from 1966 to 1973 and set the stage for a legacy of high-stakes espionage storytelling.

Fast forward to today, and the Mission: Impossible film series, starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, has taken that same spirit and cranked it up with globe-trotting stunts, intense plot twists, and jaw-dropping action. Since the first film in 1996, each installment has built on the last—faster, bolder, and more daring than ever.

What truly sets the series apart is Cruise’s commitment to doing many of his own stunts, whether he’s hanging off cliffs, scaling skyscrapers, or free-falling from planes. It’s this mix of physical intensity and smart storytelling that keeps the franchise fresh and fans coming back.

Here’s a look at all the films in the Mission: Impossible series so far:

  1. Mission: Impossible – May 22, 1996
  2. Mission: Impossible 2 – May 24, 2000
  3. Mission: Impossible III – May 5, 2006
  4. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – December 16, 2011
  5. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation – July 31, 2015
  6. Mission: Impossible – Fallout – July 27, 2018
  7. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One – July 12, 2023
  8. Mission: Impossible – The Final ReckoningComing May 23, 2025

From its roots as a classic TV show to the edge-of-your-seat blockbusters we see today, Mission: Impossible has proven that some missions really are worth accepting—again and again. I’m especially excited for the upcoming installment, The Final Reckoning, which appears to be the last in the series. You can bet I’ll be heading to the theater to see it—stay tuned for a movie review!

Thoughtful Thursday – Movie Review

Photo by cottonbro studio on Pexels.com

I hadn’t been to the movies in years so I thought it would be fun to see a summertime movie. It was a toss up between the new Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible. After a bit of thought Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One seemed like it would be the better choice to see on the big screen, and it definitely was!

The movie starred Tom Cruise along with Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby to name a few. It was an awesome action packed movie that centers around an AI which is self aware. It’s kind of scary to think about really, especially with the big push today in AI technology. The plot keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the 2 hour and 43 minute movie.

Some reviews say this movie isn’t as good as the earlier ones but that’s a matter of opinion. I’ve recently watched quite a few of the earlier Mission: Impossible movies and for me, this one measures up.

I thought they did an excellent job breaking up the intensity of this movie with humor. One of my favorite parts was the car chase scene with the yellow Fiat. I don’t want to tell you too much because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but it I will say it was pretty funny😂

This is a great summertime movie that’s definitely worth seeing in the theater on the “BIG” screen. Here’s a link to the trailer: Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

Photo by Hernan Pauccara on Pexels.com

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, this coming Monday. There’s nothing better than snuggling in front of the TV and watching a movie together for a romantic evening. A simple movie can make for an extravagant and memorable night if you pay attention to the details.

Start by lighting a few candles and serve chocolate covered strawberries with a champagne. Or if you prefer popcorn, serve freshly popped corn with homemade cookies and your favorite candies. The main thing is to use your imagination and create a fun and magical night.

These are my top picks for Valentine movies. They’re all nice, light hearted movies with happy endings:
