Summer is such a wonderful time to slow down a little—soaking up the sunshine, enjoying warm breezes, and maybe even gathering around the grill for barbecues and s’mores (I’m a fan of the dark chocolate kind!).
That easygoing, feel-good energy has definitely made its way into the studio lately. I’ve been playing with new color combinations that feel just as vibrant and full of life as summer itself. These latest watercolor abstracts came together with a mix of sap green, yellow, and turquoise—a palette that reminds me of leafy greens, golden light, and those carefree outdoor moments we all look forward to.
There was no big plan when I started—just a curiosity to see how these colors would play together on the page. I let each layer unfold naturally, blending and overlapping, following the movement of the water and trusting the process.
To add a little extra magic, I brought in some gold metallic watercolor. I love how it shimmers in the light—just enough to give the piece a bit of glow without overpowering the softness of the paint.
Each piece came out a little different, but they all share that same layered energy—spontaneous, organic, and full of little surprises. It’s always fun to step back and notice the textures, tiny details, and unexpected shapes that show up along the way.
Lately, I’ve been reminded how energizing it is to try something new, especially with color. Just letting go and seeing where it takes you.
Do you have a favorite? I’m always curious what colors or details people connect with most.
Thanks for dropping in! Wishing you a weekend filled with color, joy, and a little time to play.
Jimmy Buffett: American singer-songwriter (1946–2023)
Lately, I’ve been thinking about Jimmy Buffett—his music, his outlook, and the easygoing magic he brought into the world. He didn’t just write songs about island life and margaritas—he gave people permission to slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment they’re in.
There’s something beautiful about that. In a world that’s always rushing, always striving, Buffett reminded us to laugh more, worry less, and maybe go barefoot a little more often. His songs were filled with sunshine, mischief, and warmth—but there was also wisdom in his words. A reminder that happiness isn’t just about where you are—it’s about how you live where you are.
This week, I’ve also been thinking about my late sister, who lived in the Florida Keys and was a huge Jimmy Buffett fan. His music was part of the rhythm of her life—playing in the background at gatherings, echoing through the island breeze. Whenever I hear his songs now, I can’t help but think of her and smile. It’s a connection that still brings comfort, color, and a little bit of sunshine.
As an artist, I find that same spirit in painting—especially when I let go of the outcome and just enjoy the process. It’s in those playful, relaxed moments that something magical often appears. I think Jimmy would’ve understood that. He lived his life like a canvas—full of color, stories, and good vibes.
So today, I’m raising a virtual glass to the man who made island daydreaming an art form. 🎶🌴
What’s your version of Margaritaville? Maybe it’s time spent in your garden, an afternoon painting just for fun, or watching the sunset with someone you love. However you find your peace, I hope you make space for it this week.
Thanks for being here—and as always…

Take a stroll through soft color and calm—my brand new tote, “A Walk in Monet’s Garden,” has just arrived in the Shop! 🌸
This dreamy tote is based on one of my original acrylic abstract paintings, inspired by the timeless beauty of Monet’s water lily garden. With its luminous blues, fresh greens, and soft pink blooms floating gently across the surface, this piece captures the peaceful stillness of a quiet pond in full bloom.
Whether you’re off to the farmer’s market, bringing art supplies on the go, or just adding a little beauty to your daily routine, this tote brings a serene, impressionist-inspired touch to whatever you’re doing. It’s made from durable 100% polyester—lightweight yet super sturdy—with reinforced stitching and roomy boxed corners for everything you need to carry.
I created this design for fellow garden lovers, art history fans, and anyone who finds joy in color and tranquil moments. It also makes a thoughtful and artful gift—perfect for birthdays, thank-you’s, or just-because surprises.

Say hello to the latest addition in my whimsical pup parade! 🐶🎨 Inspired once again by the fabulous Karen Campbell’s Wonky Woofers book (@karencampbellartist), this delightfully disheveled little guy practically leapt off the page with his big googly eyes and “Did I do that?” expression.
From his tilted stance to his slightly suspicious side-eye, this pup might look confused—but he’s confidently quirky in all the best ways. I can’t help but smile every time I see him. There’s something so lovable about that wonky charm, don’t you think?
Letting Go and Leaning into the Quirk
One of the things I’ve grown to love most about painting these wonky woofer characters is how freeing it feels. There’s no “right” way to do it—wonky is the point! The joy is in the imperfections, the happy accidents, and the freedom to just play.
This pup reminded me that creativity doesn’t need to be polished to be powerful. Sometimes a slightly askew eye or lopsided smirk is what makes a piece come alive.
Got Any Quirky Creatures of Your Own?
What’s the silliest or most unexpected thing you’ve painted lately? Maybe a bug-eyed cat, a cheerful blob, or something that started off serious and ended in hilarious chaos? I’d love to hear about it! Drop your funny or feel-good art moments in the comments—I always love seeing what kind of playful magic you’re making.
Until next time, keep creating, keep embracing the wonky, and remember: a little wobble just means more personality. 💕🐾
Thanks so much for stopping by—and wishing you a colorful, joy-filled weekend ahead!
The Summer Solstice is officially here tomorrow—a day when the sun seems to stand still in the sky, stretching our daylight hours to their fullest. It’s a moment that feels alive with possibility, where nature buzzes with energy, and the light invites us to slow down and soak it all in.
When I Was a Kid…
I lived for summer. School was finally out, and that meant everything good was about to begin—movie matinees at the theater, boating adventures, and endless hours swimming in the lake with friends until our fingers were pruney and the sun started to dip behind the trees. It felt like the world opened up just a bit wider, and time moved differently—stretching long like the solstice itself.
Make the Most of the Light…
Whether you’re a fellow sunshine lover or just looking for a way to connect with the season, here are a few simple ways to honor the solstice:
Watch the sunrise or sunset and soak in the light
Go for a walk in nature—notice what’s blooming
Light a candle or small bonfire to celebrate the sun
Start a new creative project or journal your summer intentions
Make a simple summer treat—fresh berries, lemonade, or something grilled
This time of year is a beautiful reminder to find light—both around us and within.
I’d love to hear how you welcome the season—do you have a favorite way to soak in the magic of the solstice? Feel free to share in the comments—I always enjoy hearing how others celebrate this special time of year.
Wishing you a bright, beautiful solstice full of warmth, wonder, and a little spark of magic. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this new piece brings a little spark of inspiration to your day. ✨
Two weeks ago, I shared an abstract painting born from tool experimentation—and I couldn’t stop at just one! This follow-up piece leans into bolder, more saturated colors: electric blues, vibrant greens, and deep purples, with bursts of gold and playful pink marks. I continued to use my silicone wedge tools and non-traditional brushes to apply and scrape paint, letting the layers build and textures emerge.
What I love most about this piece is how it feels alive—there’s energy in the jagged lines, soft scribbles, and dots that dance across the surface. I didn’t overthink it. I just let the colors lead and responded in the moment.
Sometimes, breaking away from the “right way” to use a tool opens the door to something unexpected—and beautiful.
Thanks so much for stopping by and joining me on this creative journey. Have a wonderful weekend!
Father’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate the amazing dads, stepdads, grandpas, and all the father figures who’ve made a difference in our lives. Whether he’s the strong, silent type or the king of dad jokes, showing a little extra love and appreciation can go a long way.
Here are some fun and meaningful ways to help him feel like a million bucks—without needing to spend one!
1. Backyard BBQ, Dad-Style Fire up the grill and serve up his favorites! Whether he’s flipping the burgers or just kicking back with a cold drink while you do the work, a backyard BBQ is always a win. Add a cozy touch with string lights or his favorite music in the background.
2. Go Outside and Explore Together Take a walk, hit the trails, or head to his favorite fishing spot. If he loves the outdoors, spending time in nature together is a simple way to connect—and it gives you both a break from screens and schedules.
3. Game Night at Home Does he love board games? Trivia? Poker night? Set up a game night where he gets to pick the games and the snacks. Bonus points if you let him win… or at least pretend to.
4. Memory Lane, Here We Come Put together a little photo album or digital slideshow filled with favorite family moments. Include a few silly photos, heartfelt captions, and maybe even a note from each family member sharing why he’s so awesome.
5. Give Him a “Chore-Free Day” Make him a fun little “Dad Coupon” for a day off. No mowing the lawn, no taking out the trash—just a full day of relaxing, napping, or doing whatever makes him happiest.
6. Get Creative Together Build something, paint something, or bake something—whatever you think he’d enjoy doing with you. The time spent together (and the memories made) are the real gift here.
7. DIY Car Wash, Anyone? If he’s into cars, treat him to a wash and detail right at home. Grab some sponges, vacuum the interior, and top it off with a fun air freshener or his favorite playlist for the ride.
8. Write Him a Letter He’ll Keep Forever Sometimes the best gifts come from the heart. A handwritten note or letter telling him how much he means to you can be more powerful than any store-bought gift.
Wrap-Up: It’s All About the Love At the end of the day, Father’s Day isn’t about the fanciest plans or the biggest gifts—it’s about letting him know how much he’s loved and appreciated. A little effort, a personal touch, and quality time can go a long way in making his day one to remember.
