Finding Peace Through Angel Art: A Watercolor Journey

As many of you know, I love painting angels. It’s where I find peace and solace through the artistic process. I started this watercolor painting in my art journal a while ago, but I wasn’t thrilled with the overpowering, bold colors.

Eventually, I decided to move forward and finish her. Surprisingly, once I changed my mindset, the colors started to grow on me, and new ideas emerged on how to complete this painting. Sometimes, we need to take a step back and let things settle before new inspiration comes to us. It’s a reminder that patience and a fresh perspective can transform our work in unexpected ways.

I hope this inspires you in some way today. Thanks for stopping by!!⠀

Abstract Watercolor Flowers: A Journey of Imagination

I love nature’s beauty in flowers. There are so many varieties, textures and lovely colors. It’s no wonder I have a strong calling to paint them.

I’ve been enjoying creating abstract watercolors. My intention with these paintings is to evoke the essence of flowers without focusing on the details, leaving much to the viewer’s imagination.

These small pieces are part of a larger mixed media project I’m working on, and I hope to complete them this coming week. So join me on this artistic journey to see how it evolves!

I hope this inspires you in some way. Have a great weekend!⠀

Soulful Art: Embracing Unpredictability in Watercolor Painting

The results can be stunning or sometimes a complete disaster—you never know! This time, I experimented with a new color combination and absolutely love how it turned out.

Creating art is meant to expand your mind and soul. It’s an unpredictable adventure, and that’s where the joy comes from. May this piece inspire you to explore, experiment, and find beauty in the unexpected twists and turns of your own creative journey.

Embracing the Unexpected: My Watercolor Painting Adventure

Have you ever been so engrossed in creating something that you didn’t realize you were making a hot mess? Well, that’s exactly what happened with this painting! I was having a blast playing with my watercolors and experimenting with different techniques, totally oblivious to the chaos unfolding 😂 I kept adding more layers, hoping to salvage it, but eventually, called it a day.

Although it didn’t go as planned, there are still aspects I love, like the vibrant colors, the blue fanned brushstrokes around the edges, and the dreamy vibe. Overall, I think it still looks pretty cool; you can see where some of the bottom layers peek through in different areas, adding more depth. What do you think?

I hope it inspires you to embrace the unexpected in your own creative journey. Thanks for stopping by!

Thoughtful Thursday Childhood Wisdom

Artwork by Maria Vidaurre

John Lennon once shared a profound childhood memory: “When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

This simple yet powerful anecdote underscores a timeless truth often lost in the hustle of modern life. As children, we inherently grasp that happiness is the ultimate goal, unclouded by societal expectations and pressures. Lennon’s mother instilled in him a wisdom that many spend a lifetime seeking—valuing happiness above all else.

When young Lennon responded with “happy” to the question of future aspirations, it highlighted a profound understanding that fulfillment isn’t about titles or achievements but about joy and contentment. His teachers’ reaction exemplifies a common misconception: equating success with external accomplishments rather than inner well-being.

Lennon’s words remind us to realign our priorities, to seek joy in our everyday lives rather than in the relentless pursuit of societal standards of success. In essence, understanding life truly means cherishing happiness as our ultimate aim.

To add a final touch of whimsy, I finished it off with a bit of glitter and ribbon.
