Meet Sadie: Our New Cocker Spaniel Pup

This isn’t my usual art post, but I wanted to share something extra special with you today! While I’m getting back into the studio groove, it’s time to introduce the newest member of our family—meet Sadie (pictured left)! She’s a six-month-old sable cocker spaniel from Orlando Cockers, the same wonderful place where we got Rosie (pictured right).

Sadie has the most beautiful hazel eyes, and although she may look like a sweet little angel in the photo, don’t be fooled—this girl is a total fireball in the mornings! 😂 I had forgotten how much energy a little puppy has. Thankfully, Rosie (our two-year-old) has been doing an amazing job teaching Sadie the ropes. Meanwhile, Chanel, our wise twelve-year-old, has gracefully opted out of all the puppy shenanigans. She’s clearly too sophisticated for that kind of chaos!

Rosie and Sadie love starting their mornings with energetic play sessions and enjoy walks together in the afternoon. By evening, all three girls snuggle up with my husband and me for some cozy family time in front of the TV. It’s such a joy to see them piled up together, filling our hearts and home with even more love.

Sadie may have been an unexpected surprise, but we couldn’t be happier with our sweet, spirited new girl. She’s already made herself right at home!

Wishing you a weekend filled with joy, warmth, and maybe even a few snuggles of your own! 🐾💖 Thanks for stopping by!!

Puppy Art Journaling

I’m playing catch-up with the Scrappy8Challenge on Instagram. Only one prompt a month, and I still managed to fall behind! 😂 For March, the prompt was “Collaged Animal.”

So I’m sharing one of my all-time favorite photos of my pup, Chanel. That bashful look gets me every time! She’s an absolute sweetheart, and her resilience is truly inspiring. Despite losing her sight at 3 years old, she wakes up every morning with boundless joy and still plays fetch! She’s got a lot of determination and a great attitude💖

This was created in my 4.5×5″ handmade watercolor journal, using watercolor paints and pens. I added a felt heart and a sprinkle of rhinestone hearts, along with the collaged image of my little girl.

Hope Chanel’s story brings a smile to your face today. Wishing you a fantastic day ahead!

Welcome Rosie

Chanel our cocker spaniel was pretty sad when Cocoa passed away last summer. She got her happiness back to a certain extent but not like when Cocoa was here. So we’ve been waffling the idea of getting a new pup. We finally decided to go for it and this is our new baby. Welcome Rosie, a Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel from Orlando Cockers.

I know our lives will be turned upside down with this new little bambino in the house but she’ll be good medicine for Chanel and all of us, because life is just Rosie💐

Wish me luck!

Thoughtful Thursday – Happy Birthday Chanel

Chanel

I want to introduce you to Chanel, my other Sable Cocker Spaniel who is turning 9 years old today! She is a very special little girl who is my daily inspiration.

At 3 years old, Chanel went completely blind. At first she was upset and frustrated but a few days in, she mapped out the house by following the walls with her nose. She went around again mapping out where the furniture was and used her sniffer to determine what room she was in.

Chanel maintained her status as the alpha and learned new commands like follow me, stop, turn and listen to name a few. She had every reason to wake up unhappy with the hand that life dealt her, but she chose happiness. You see, Chanel never got the memo that she was blind and life should be over because of her disability. The only thing she knew was that life was going to be a little different from here on out. She still plays fetch but instead of looking for the ball with her eyes, she uses sound and smell to find it. It’s incredible to watch.

I know that if this would have happened to me I would’ve had a very hard time adjusting. Everyday I watch in awe as she navigates her day with courage and a heart filled with love. Chanel has a super wonderful attitude that gets her through life.

I wish we all had more of Chanel’s positive attitude. Life will always throw you curves balls and even knock you down sometimes. But you always need to find the positive in every situation, especially the challenging ones. Change doesn’t have to be a bad thing, it just means it’s time to adjust to something new and see where that takes you on this incredible journey we call life. Remember, it is your attitude that determines your altitude.

Happy Birthday Chanel!
