Inchie Challenge 2023 – Part 2 Finale

I can’t believe yesterday was Day 12 and the last day of Amy Maricle’s Inchie Challenge at Mindful Art Studio.

I had such fun creating these inchies in varying sizes. I guess what I liked the most is that you’re given a starting point on what to create with the prompts given. You don’t have to burn a fuse trying to decide on “what” you’re going to create. You only need to think about the “how” part of the creation process.

Plus I love seeing everyone’s creative muse at play. There were so many wonderful designs, loved them all! Now I have to make a mini journal to put these into 😊

Hope you enjoyed this adventure in art with me, thanks for stopping by!!!

Inchie Challenge 2023

Amy Maricle at Mindful Art Studio is hosting another Inchie Challenge. I participated last year and had so much fun I couldn’t resist joining again.

The idea is to create a small piece of art based on a prompt provided by Amy, every day, for 12 days. You should use 2×2 inch squares of paper but I already have varying sizes cut so I’m using what I have in my stash.

These are my creations for the first five days:

  • Day 1 – Frothy
  • Day 2 – Woven
  • Day 3 – Bark
  • Day 4 – Magnolia
  • Day 5 – Spill

You can still join in on the fun. Visit Amy’s website at Mindful Art Studio and click the link to join the Inchie Challenge.

You can also find Amy on Facebook and Instagram at @amymaricle

Thoughtful Thursday Words of Wisdom by Gandhi

We all face challenges and struggles. At times you may want to give up and call it quits. But when you dig deep, you’ll find that all of the challenges you’ve faced in your life have made you stronger and wiser. So as unpleasant as they may seem, keep going and get through it. You’ve got this!!

These words of encouragement are by Mohandas Gandhi and are featured on my abstract art:

“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggle develops your strength. Whe you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.”

Really love this quote. I hope you’re having a great week so far!

Flower Abstract Painting

This is the finished 18×24″ flower abstract painting that I’ve been working on. It was painted with radiant colors to brighten the decor in any room. The background has lots of texture and I added splashes of white pearl paint for more interest.

I love the dreaminess of this painting. It reminds me of the aurora borealis lights. What do you think?

Hope this inspires you to create today, thanks for stopping by!!!

Abstract Painting

I finished this 18×18″ abstract painting. It has lots of texture and interesting design elements. I really love this color combination, it’s very happy and uplifting.

Now I need a name for it. The center reminds me of a mountain peak so I thought maybe Pinnacle or Summit but I’m not sure. What do you think is a good name?

Hope this inspires you to create today, thanks for stopping by!!!

Thoughtful Thursday 15 Inspiring Quotes

We all need a little boost at one time or another and the right words at the right time can have a dramatic impact in our lives. I’m an avid lover of quotes and words have a way of touching our hearts and getting our minds to listen so we change for the better.

Here are 15 quotes to inspire you:

  • “Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.” ~Jim Rohn
  • “Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.” ~Farrah Gray
  • “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” ~Lao Tzu
  • “One of the most important principles of success is developing the habit of going the extra mile.” ~Napoleon Hill
  • “Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” ~Benjamin Franklin
  • “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” ~Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • “People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.” ~Abraham Lincoln
  • “People say motivation doesn’t last. Well, either does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.” ~Zig Ziglar
  • “Our greatest challenges in life should be those we give ourselves to reach our full potential.” ~Brendon Burchard
  • “You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it. So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can because that’s where you will find success, on the other side of failure.” ~Thomas Watson
  • “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
  • “Successful people are not people without problems. They are people who have learned to solve their problems.” ~Earl Nightingale
  • “Don’ be afraid of new ideas. Bea afraid of old ideas. They keep you where you are and stop you from growing and moving forward. Concentrate on where you want to go, not on what you fear.” ~Tony Robbins
  • “It doesn’t matter where you’re coming from. All that matters is where you are going.” ~Brian Tracy
  • “There has never been and there will never be another you. You have purpose – a very special gift that only you can bring to the world.” ~Marie Forleo

I hope these words of wisdom will lift your spirit when you need it most and fuel your passion for your dreams!

Abstract Paintings in Progress

I have several paintings that I’m working on in the studio. The two square canvases are 18×18″ and the rectangle is 18×24″. They all have lots of interesting texture and beautiful color. Each one is also in a different stage of the process. When I look at each one, the colors just make me smile, they’re simply happy paintings.

What do they make you feel? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Hope you have a lovely weekend ahead, thanks for stopping by!!!

Song Bird Journal Page

I thought I’d share with you this journal page I created a while ago in my Strathmore 9×12″ Mixed Media Visual Journal. I made this with lots of collaged layers, paint, gelatos and stencils.

The beautiful thing about journaling is it’s a great place to build your artistic confidence. If you don’t know what to create, just look out your window and create what you see. If you say I can’t draw, then start by using a stencil or stamped image. If you’re afraid to start, make random marks on your page and go from there.

There is no right and there is no wrong, only what makes you happy. No one has to see your creation if you don’t want them to. This is your place to be yourself, free from judgement and to create whatever your heart desires. So have some fun!

Hope this inspires you to create, thanks for stopping by!!!

Simplest Things Journal

Creating simple pages in a journal can bring so much joy. I’m still working in my Simplest Things Journal which I started as part of Amy Maricle’s Challenge at Mindful Art Studios. I find I’m taking notice more of the wonderful patterns that surround me in my environment that I never saw before.

As most of you know, I’m a huge fan of color, lots and lots of colors. I love playing with paints and creating new colors when they mix. Some don’t go as expected and others are a wonderful surprise. But for me, the color mixing is one of the most fun parts of this art journaling process.

Another great aspect of art journaling is it’s a great way to unwind and destress yourself. You only need a few minutes of time a day to work on the creation of a new page and minimal supplies. So it’s a win win!

Hope this inspires you to create some art!
